NetFilmz Makes a Statement Before Saying a Word

"Nice Timing" has a whole new meaning to the cast and crew of Shroud of Echoes, a NetFilmz project recently shot in downtown Dallas and surrounding areas.



The film tells the story of U.S. Marine Sergeant Ryan Wesloh, a man who finds himself traveling home from Iraq with newfound love. His love is for Nia, a Muslim woman who was raised in Britain and represents much of England's modern-day Muslim population. But the story takes a very dark turn, terrorism being the catalyst that challenges the religious foundation of Wesloh.



"In fifteen minutes, the film achieves a goal that even feature films find challenging," states actor Glenn Morshower. "We relate to the characters, we relate to the heartache and, certainly now, we better understand the complexity of the Muslim population throughout the world."



When director Scot Hunt initially explained Nia's British background, even the film's producers were unaware of the scope of Britain's Muslim community.



"When it comes to military history and world affairs, Scot's roots run deep and heavily influence much of his work," explains Angela Gair, the film's producer. "The London attacks came just days after we wrapped and the similarities are uncanny. We have all been thrown for a loop."



With the Shroud of Echoes release quickly approaching, the production team is embracing the opportunity to inform, educate, and make a difference in lives that have been tarnished in the War on Terrorism. Every detail symbolic, NetFilmz has scheduled the premier for September 11th and plans to partner with a national charity to support the families of U.S. troops who have suffered great losses.



Perhaps Scot Hunt, a writer who typically offers more insight than hindsight, will find his audiences more informed than expected.



"As an indie film unit, our adage has always been 'Open Your Eyes.' The irony of this situation is a very delicate subject... so many eyes have been opened in the past few weeks."
