Writer/producer Eric Vale of Five Ton Ed Productions and director Brad Osborne of Innuendo Films have been informed that their short film, Interstate , is an official selection for the
New York City Horror Film Festival (NYCHFF). The festival, which will take place October 19th through October 23rd, 2005, has been labeled the top U.S. genre film festival by HorrorNet
president Kim Bangash.
Interstate stars Jeffrey Schmidt (Indefinitely, Case Closed) as Foster, a seemingly normal guy who tunes in an AM radio program which broadcasts ominous predictions of his own, imminent
death. As the broadcast continues, Foster begins to question his own actions - and those of the mysterious Merrin, a stranger who offers assistance. The film also stars Bill Flynn (A
Killer Within, Quiet Desperation).
This is one of three independent film projects from Texas writer/producer Eric Vale, who also produced Indefinitely in 2001 and wrote/produced Sole Possessions , a short premiering at the
NYCHFF this year. Vale also writes for anime television and videogame projects and is known for voicing the character of Trunks on the popular anime series Dragon Ball Z .
Brad Osborne, a longtime friend to Vale, was the perfect match as the director of Interstate . "This film is a psychological thriller," states Osborne. "Every detail had to be seamless to
deliver our story with the impact Eric had envisioned." "Strong partnerships are key when working on indie films," adds Vale. "Brad and I shared the same vision for Interstate from
beginning to end."
The film, which has already won Best in Texas Short at the Deep Ellum Film Festival in Dallas, will be screened at 7:30pm on Sunday, October 23rd at the NYCHFF in screening room 2.
Coincidentally, Innuendo Films is the only production unit at the NYCHFF to have two projects - Interstate and Sole Possessions - selected for the lineup.
