National Research Council of Canada Supports HaiVisions Development of Next Generation H264 Video over IP Product
HaiVision Systems Inc., a global leader in high performance network video communication products is pleased to announce an agreement with the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) to receive a repayable contribution for up to $700,000 for the development of its next generation video over Internet Protocol (IP) product with dual H.264 and MPEG-2 digital video support.
The H.264 standard, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, provides high resolution (DVD quality) video streaming at lower bandwidth for applications such as enterprise IP TV / corporate broadcast, distance education, and tele-presence. Its advanced compression core supports a wide range of formats up to High Definition TV (HDTV) and allows for very short latency for truly interactive applications.
"The advanced features of H.264 will enable HaiVision to introduce the most advanced audio-visual encoding and decoding systems for IP network applications as early as Q1 2006" said Mirko Wicha, CEO of HaiVision Systems Inc. "We will deliver high-resolution, low latency, low audio drift, and network robustness at the highest available performance level but at a significantly lower price point than any other comparable H.264 product available on the market."
HaiVision products offer a wide range of performance, features and value for the rapidly expanding video over IP market. Through its global distribution network of top tier resellers and integrators, HaiVision products are installed in the Fortune 100 boardrooms, some of the largest and most successful distance education networks and other mission critical applications such as telemedicine, surveillance and tele-presence. Through active participation in the AVC and Internet2 organizations, HaiVision is contributing to the broad deployment of video over IP applications worldwide.
The National Research Council's Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) provides a range of both technical and business oriented advisory services along with potential financial support to growth-oriented Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises. The program is delivered by an extensive integrated network of over 230 field staff in 90 communities across the country. Working directly with these clients, NRC-IRAP supports innovative research and development and commercialization of new products and services.
