This year, the contest was co-sponsored by Macromedia, Inc. and Adobe, Inc. Professionals from the international Director community made up the panel of judges who had the difficult task of selecting winners.
All the judges noticed the overall high quality of the projects received. I will say that in general I felt this year s entries were all high quality ( 8230;). Not a single one showed obvious bugs or errors. ( 8230;) (Judging is) always hard as I felt that every entry had something well done and unique about it, said Tom Higgins, Technical Product Manager for Macromedia Director and the Shockwave Player at Macromedia, Inc.
Entries were received from around the world, including Canada, the United States, England, Austria, Peru, Poland, Belgium, Serbia and Montenegro, Singapore. This year s entries covered a variety of topics and application types, including an in-clinic nutrition advisor for pregnant women; a commemorative CD for the Jewish Historic Museum in Belgrade; a CD to accompany the teachers edition of a text book; a marketing tool showcasing a company s mission, raison d être and processes through video; and an interactive CD to support a combined NFL/Dairy Management advertising campaign.
It was exciting to see an even greater response to the contest compared to the previous year, said Gabrielle Krim, INM Product Manager, and one of the contest judges. The projects received were very diverse. Projects that used the more advanced features of INM Impressario naturally captured our attention for their technical nature. However, even those projects that used the more basic functions of INM Impressario were all successfully tailored to the client s specific needs, resulting in visually-appealing and innovative multimedia projects.
Chase Information Systems, Inc. was the smallest firm to have been selected between the Top twelve projects, and especially among the three placing winners. First place was awarded to a project done for the Sony Corporation by Blueburst Ltd of England. Second place was given to a project done for Swarovski Digiscoping by Sony DADC of Austria. Third place was awarded to Chase Information Systems, Inc. of Jamestown, NY for the Video CD-ROM project they created for the Weber Knapp Company.
We brainstormed many different ideas before creating the keywords feature, said Colin Chase, Multimedia Programmer for the project and President of Chase Information Systems, Inc. We were pleased to provide Weber Knapp with a highly sophisticated and interactive marketing CD-ROM. As for the award, we were ecstatic! To be selected from among much larger development firms, and to be chosen by known leaders in our field has been quite the honor.
Chase Information Systems was more than capable of producing a superior product to go beyond the anticipated scope of the project, said Justin Jakubowicz, Webmaster for Weber Knapp Company. Even though they are a small company, there are many advantages to working with them. CIS is composed of highly skilled and talented individuals. Their creativity took our initial concepts to the next level.
