Autonomic Controls, Inc., a provider of award-winning media integration solutions, was honored this month with the industry-selected 2008 CHIP Gold Award for its Media Control Server, a media management module that successfully integrates all digital media--even DRM-protected content--into a single library.
In the past, iTunes's DRM protection made it virtually impossible for the custom electronics industry to integrate iTunes and Windows Media files into a single media management system. In
most cases, the iPod dock was the only solution. However, the twice-compressed files housed on the typical iPod offered noticeably poorer audio quality when amplified through an A/V
system.
Autonomic introduced Media Control Sever to directly integrate iTunes and Windows Media content into multi-room audio installations, providing a totally unified--and DRM-compliant--media
collection. Its two-way protocol works over IP wired or wireless networks, USB or RS-232, and controls iTunes, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center and extenders. Mirage 2.0, the
optional graphic user interface, lets users browse and search music, movies, recorded TV shows, videos, photos and more via touchpanel. PolyTune's8482; technology allows up to four
independent audio streams from a single server. No file transferring or re-encoding is required, delivering a maintenance-free media experience.
Autonomic Controls was founded to simplify and enhance the enjoyment of digital media, said Michael de Nigris, CEO of Autonomic Controls, Inc. This recognition from our dealers--for the
second consecutive year--tells us that we'sre on the right path. Our future plans are even more exciting and game-changing.
The CHIP Awards are presented annually to products that made the biggest impact on the custom electronics industry during the year. These high-impact products are independently nominated
by industry dealers, reflecting the most innovative--and useful--industry solutions. Dealers were asked to nominate products that helped them boost sales, save time and money, increase
profits and provide a competitive advantage.
Also generating industry attention are Autonomic'ss partnerships with manufacturers like Crestron, Universal Remote Control and NuVo Technologies. A close partnership between Crestron and
Autonomic provides enhanced support and functionality for iTunes and Windows Media Center integration on Crestron equipment. A collaborative effort with Universal Remote Control created
the digital media server for the MX-6000, a two-way, touch-screen remote, which took home a 2009 CES Innovations Award in the Home Theater Accessories category. NuVo Technologies teamed
up with Autonomic on Music Port, a digital media solution named as a finalist for the EHX 2008 Multi-Room Awards for Audio Source Components.
Working with Michael and his team at Autonomic Controls has been an absolute pleasure, said David Rodarte, President and COO of NuVo Technologies. The NuVo Music Port product that we
developed together has received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the press and from our dealers. Autonomic Controls has been a proactive, flexible, responsive partner that has
delivered so much more than the typical contracted engineering team would.
Autonomic is committed to this channel, said de Nigris. The collaborative projects with our partners have been extremely rewarding, but the projects we'sre working on now for future
solutions are what excite us the most.
