Historic Brown County Indiana Art Gallery Celebrates 80 Years with a Collectors Showcase Exhibition
The Historic Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville, Indiana, celebrates 80 years this week with a very special event.
Nashville is the Art Colony of the Midwest.
Collector'ss Showcase is a one night only exhibition of early Indiana art loaned to the gallery by owners. Most have never been seen by the public before.
The entire evening is a fund-raiser to benefit The Brown County Art Gallery Foundation. It was 80 years ago on the first weekend of October that Brown County'ss original gallery held its first exhibition and sale.
A painting by modern Brown County artist Tim Greatbatch is one of the items to be auctioned at the 2006 Collector'ss Showcase at the historic Art Gallery on Saturday, Oct. 7 between 6 and 7 pm.
The evening celebrates not only the work of these early artists but will be a birthday party as well and features food,wine, and bluegrass music by Indiana artist C.W. Mundy and the Disco Mountain Boys.
Reservations are 25.00 per person and can be made by calling the Gallery at 812-988-4609. Admission will also be taken at the door, but reservations are requested. The gallery is located at the corner of Artist Drive and Main Street, two blocks east of the courthouse. The evening begins at 6 pm and ends at 9pm.
