Abstract Textures Features New Abstract Paintings by Contemporary Artist Shawn McNulty
January 12, 2005 -- A new gallery show titled Abstract Textures at the Chaska Community Center Gallery features recent work from Shawn McNulty. McNulty, who has built an impressive collection list including President Bill Clinton and Hi-Wire Productions, has been experimenting with different texture media including gel and pumice stone to create rocky surfaces on his signature abstract pieces that are sometimes reminiscent of Richard Diebenkorn.
"All my work is dependent on form, color, and composition. I believe the most complex emotions can be evoked from the simplest of forms. My style explores the relationship between man-made structures and the natural world; the idea of recognizable shapes and structures living within irrational thoughts and emotions. I begin an abstract painting very spontaneously and become more detailed as the composition starts to show itself."
