History Museum of Los Gatos Presents Grist Gumption Genius in Los Gatos January 9 through April

January 6, 2005 -- The History Museum of Los Gatos is presenting a colorful, historically-focused survey of some great, innovative businesses, products and ideas that were born and at least partially raised in Los Gatos.

This select, exhibition surveys a few of the innovative businesses, products and ideas that were born and at least partially raised in Los Gatos and contributed to the growth and mystique we know today as Silicon Valley. The Curator, Jade Bradbury, begins the survey starting with our own Alexander Forbes' Mill, Macabee Gopher Traps and John Bean Sprayers. We are then reacquainted with one of the biggest Fads of the 70's, Gary Dahl's Pet Rock, along with the early high-tech products created by Silicon Valley Pioneers: Ira Spector, Dudley Warner, Geoff Lee, Charles Walton, Steve Wozniak, Nolan Bushnell and Al Alcorn, among others. The public reception to be held on January 27th will be kicked-off by a round table discussion by our Silicon Valley Luminaries, titled: "Why didn't I think of that Meet the people who did."

The round table will be hosted at the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers (110 East Main Street, Los Gatos, CA) and is free to the public. A public reception will be held immediately after the talk, at the Forbes Mill History Museum. Refreshments will be served.
