The book is a 9"x14" spiral bound, 448 page, easy-to-use portable guide and a directory of www.AskART.com artists' database as of August 2004. Chitra Ramanathan recently completed a major public commission which entailed creating two paintings each measuring four feet by six feet, for the MGM Mirage Design Group's Cafe Bellagio refurbishment in Las Vegas, Nevada. These two new works have been displayed permanently in the interior of the Cafe Bellagio in October 2004 after remodelling was completed, and are based on her 1998 and 2000 originals titled "A Momentary Glance", and "Coruscation" repsectively, which in turn were selected by the MGM Mirage Group from one of the websites featuring Chitra's work.
Originally from India, Chitra Ramanathan, a U.S. citizen has succesfully held several solo and group exhibitions of her paintings on Broadway, New York since 1995 most of which attracted rave reviews, following a large solo exhibition of her paintings at the ARC Gallery/Educational Foundation in Chicago, Illinois in 1994. Since then, her and several of her mostly large-scale, conceptual mixed media abstact paintings in her signature style, have been acquired through the worldwide web as well as through contacts by individual collectors and business enterprises for collections around the United States and in Europe.
Chitra Ramanathan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with Honors, and a Masters degree in Business Administration both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. Several websites feature her biography as well as images of her colorful, often large scale, mixed media acrylic,abstract paintings in her signature style. She is a committee member of the College Art Association of America. Chitra has recently joined the Indianapolis Art Center, Indianapolis as Art Center faculty.
