Veranda Summer Singer and Songwriter Series Presents Acclaimed Nashville Songwriter

Veranda on Highland, one of Birmingham's premier restaurants, will feature acclaimed Nashville songwriter Drew Holcomb as part of the "Veranda Summer Singer and Songwriter Series" on July 15 and 16 at the restaurant at 2220 Highland Avenue South.

For both shows, cocktails are available beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. and the show at 8:15 p.m. The cost for each night is $75, which includes a three course dinner and the show. Holcomb will provide lively, folk rock entertainment in an intimate environment accompanied by gourmet, Southern-style cuisine. Dinner from an exclusive "Songwriter menu," prepared by Veranda's celebrated executive chef Tom Robey, will be served before the performance.

Other upcoming artists in the "Veranda Summer Singer and Songwriter Series" include No. 1 songwriters Don Schlitz (August 5), Melanie Safka (August 19) and Richard Leigh (September 2).

Holcomb is a Memphis, Tenn., native who, in just over 4 years, has played over 500 shows across the country as a singer and songwriter. He has sold out venues such as Nashville's Belcourt Theater and Memphis' Hi Tone Caf and appeared on stage with Ryan Adams, Sister Hazel, Marc Broussard, Susan Tedeschi, Lucero and North Mississippi Allstars.

He released the album WASHED IN BLUE in 2005, which garnered favorable comparisons to various respected singers and songwriters. In June 2006, he married longtime singing partner Ellie, and settled in Nashville, Tenn., where he formed a new band called "The Neighbors." Guitarist Nathan Dugger of Memphis, Tenn, is a long-time friend of Holcomb's, and drummer Jon Radford and bassist Rich Brinsfield were discovered by Holcomb amidst the booming independent music scene in the clubs of Nashville.
