Vic Juris joins the growing roster of world-class jazz guitarists on the Mel Bay Records label with the April 2005 release of his latest CD, A Second Look.

"Beautilful Record! Vic Juris is one of the best players on the modern scene."
- Peter Bernstein

"Vic Juris is the greatest. There are none better!" -John Abercrombie

"An inspiring player since the early 70s, Vic Juris continues to inspire as he pushes the limits of his playing, going beyond all expectations on his latest Mel Bay Records label release, A Second Look. An artistically modern and fresh-sounding CD, A Second Look combines an intense set of originals and standards that features Juris' creative and introspective approach to crafting thoughtful improvisation and inventive reharmonization as he explores the jazz lexicon through the use of both traditional and modern improvisational fare."
- Lyle Robinson / Jazz Guitar Life

"...Juris' playing is melodic, clean-toned and swinging. He's gotten props for his sense of harmony in the past, but what really stick out here are the long lean lines that seem as if they could go on forever."
- JazzWeek

"A Second Look, like last year's Blue Horizon (ZOHO), continues to assert Juris' considerable talents in a less-is-more context. To hear someone who is almost insidiously pushing the boundaries of jazz guitar, one need look no further."
- John Kelman / All About Jazz

Born Victor E. Jurusz Jr. in 1953 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Vic Juris began his professional ascent in the early 1970s through appearances and recordings with Phil Woods, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miroslav Vitous. He participated in the jazz fusion movement with the Barry Miles group and in duets with Larry Coryell. His virtuosity and creativity in both acoustic and electric ensembles allowed him to quickly build a broad fan base.

Vic has recorded and performed with an extensive roster of jazz legends, including David Liebman, Freddie Hubbard, Gary Peacock, John Ambercrombie, Bireli Lagrene and Lee Konitz. A master of fluid lyricism, subtle phrasing and engaging harmonies, Vic is especially well known for his seductive ballads.

Mel Bay Records was launched in June 2004 with the release of Awakening by the Corey Christiansen Quartet. SOLO by Jimmy Bruno, the second CD on Mel Bay Records, was released in October 2004.
