Growl at the Rally Positioned to Attract Thousands
May 18, 2005 -- On Memorial Day weekend Evanston, WY, a seemingly unlikely locale for a population explosion, will be overrun by hogs and heavy metal heathens. Accompanying this year's Evanston Freedom Rally, will be the second annual "Growl" at the Rally. Hosted by comedian Dean Evans, the event will span two days and feature 12 of the most promising independent rock and metal bands west of the Mississippi
Now in its seventh year, the Evanston Freedom Rally has attracted tens of thousands of bikers and bike enthusiasts. For three days downtown Evanston is cordoned off to all motor traffic with the exclusion of motorcycles. It's on this weekend that Triamid Productions will present "Growl" at the Rally in the city's First National Bank parking lot.
Troy Fillmore, owner of Triamid Productions, urges anyone with the love for Harleys, music and the great outdoors to attend.
"It promises to be a hell of a time. We have a bunch of stuff planned 12 bands, 2 days, comedy, food, beer, booths for t-shirt and CD sales and Guitar Center is scheduled to be on hand."
The "Growl" festival is the brainchild of Casey Heyrend and Kenn VanWeerd. His band Counter Measures originally performed at the Freedom Rally in 2003 and have since become a regular attraction at the event.
"I'm very excited for Growl '05. It's been great working with Troy and Triamid Productions. I am so damn impressed by the Utah music scene and the complete brotherhood I have been shown by the bands who have donated their time and talent for this event," Kenn said, "I expect that this will be a huge hit! I expect that everyone who attends will have a mind-blowing, metal good time! We got some really great talent on-hand this year check the band line-up. It's awesome and it's something this town has never seen before."
Among the bands performing at "Growl" at the Rally will be Funnel Head, Katagory V, Idiocracy, Switchback and Counter Measure. There will be no charge to attend and organizers expect at least 2000 attendees. Garage Radio will be on-hand providing press coverage and gathering video to be featured on N.A.R.TV and Music Plus TV. While the rally will start on May 27th and continue through the 30th (Memorial Day), the "Growl" festival will run May 28th and 29th.
