NERVOUS CABARET on the Boardwalk at Astroland Coney Island
DESCRIPTION:
Fresh from their recording sessions for BBC Radio
NERVOUS CABARET happily announces a show with great friends LUMINSECENT ORCHESTRII.
NERVOUS CABARET'S live shows have made them an
underground sensation. Drummers Greg Wiz (The Autumn Defense), Brian Geltner (Joseph Arthur, Johnny Society) and bassist Matt Morandi form the powerhouse rhythm section. The intensely unique sound is completed by Elyas Khan (Vocals/Guitar) and Fred Wright (cornet) leading the horn section rounded out by Don Undeen (Baritone Sax).
"They're more loud than nervous, and don't expect the Weimar sound. Think Tom Waits as Qawwali Gypsy King, backed by Joy Division with Captain Caveman clubbing the tympanum as a drum set. They're international rock stars in their native DUMBO but the rest of us are just beginning to catch on!" (VILLAGE VOICE)
LUMINESCENT ORCHESTRII: Romanian gypsy melodies, punk frenzy, salty tangos, hard rocking klezmer, haunting Balkan harmony, hip-hop beats and Appalachian fiddle, all eaten and spit out by three violins, resophonic guitar, bullhorn harmonica and guitarron.
