She'ss earned standing ovations, literally, coast-to-coast for peerless performances across her home and native land. Now, singer-songwriter Allison Crowe is readying for her first
concerts in Europe on soil in which is bedded her ancestral roots.
On her just-completed, third, national headlining tour of Canada, Crowe delighted audiences in the provinces of British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and
Newfoundland. This Sea of a Million Faces tour swing was capped with a visit to Cape Spear, the eastern-most point on the North American continent. And Crowe became an honorary
Newfoundlander at a Screech-in ceremony presided over by the honourable Angus McAlpine of Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
Next month, Crowe, one of the truly great and original voices of this or any generation, makes her European debut at the historic Bewley'ss Café Theatre, Dublin and at Bush Hall, London.
(One of the UK'ss top concert venues, Bush Hall, as well as hosting REM, Coldplay, and others, is where Alanis Morissette returned to live performing in 's04).
Last year, the London-based music journal Record of the Day, declared: Allison Crowe has a voice to fall in love with. And, last month, the UK'ss premiere roots and country magazine,
Maverick, labeled her a force to be reckoned with. Along with the nods to her own songs, fan clubs of The Beatles and Rolling Stones, plus caretakers of the legacies of Joni Mitchell and
Leonard Cohen have all recognized Crowe'ss remarkable interpretive powers. Crowe'ss Tidings CD has been cited by BBC Radio listeners as among their picks for the best cover album of all
time.
Along with live performances, there is a Tidings video album in the works. The antithesis of everything that'ss out there is how this musical project is described by director/producer
Alex Postowoi (lensman behind videos of Joan Armatrading, Jann Arden, Bif Naked+). As with Allison Crowe'ss audio releases, there is no trickery or fakery involved. Simply, it'ss pure and
honest in capturing a dozen songs performed by Crowe live at Turtle Recording, the White Rock, B.C. studio of engineer/producer Larry Anschell (k-os, Pearl Jam, Sarah McLachlan).
By the time Allison Crowe returns to North America for a series of Tidings concerts in eastern Canada, the U.S. and B.C., this DVD will be released as a treat for fan club members.
