Keith Anderson interviews with Jaijai Jackson about his life and music on Jaijai Jackson'ss Woman Of Jazz on Xradio.biz
October 6, 2005 -- Man accused of being Full of Soul on several jazz reviews, decides to move from side man to front man as a solo artist. Keith Anderson, not to be confused with the
country singer, came on to the jazz scene in 1993.
Keith was discovered by the legendary pianist/singer Les McCann. He landed the job as the featured soloist in McCann's8217;s band. Keith is a Native Texan and started playing the
saxophone at the age of 10. Keith was accepted to Arts Magnet High School, an elite prestiges school in Dallas Texas. Arts Magnet, now known as School for performing and Visual Arts, has
produced such sensations as Roy Hargrove, Erykah Badu, and Nora Jones all credited as Grammy winners. Keith has toured in many places throughout the world including Europe, Asia, South
America, and Russia just to name a few. Anderson has toured and recorded with music icons such as Les McCann, Al Jereau , Roy Hargrove, 's8220;Fathead Newman's8221;, Kirk Franklin, Paul
Jackson Jr., and Bobby Lyle. To Anderson's8217;s surprise he was asked to play on Kanye West debut album 's8220;College Dropout's8221; which was an accomplished Grammy winning album.
Keith was asked back to record on Kanye's8217;s following album 's8220;Late Registration's8221;.
Keith has been said by many, to be the newest edition of the 's8220;Texas Tenors which includes greats such as 's8220;Fathead Newman's8221;, James Clay, Arnette Cobb, and Marshell Ivory.
Anderson is also known as an accomplished songwriter. You can hear his music on Paul Jackson Jr.'s8217;s latest CD 's8220;In A Still Small Voice's8221;, and Roy Hargrove's8217;s Strength
EP. He is currently working with the well known bassist Marcus Miller as the featured soloist and finds himself persuing his own band with best friend and fellow musician Bobby Sparks.
Keith says Bobby is the inspiration that helps him keep pushing along in this very difficult business.
Keith is looking forward to the debut of his CD on Xradio.biz with Jaijai Jackson, who happens to be the daughter of the legendary bass player Chubby Jackson.
