While yet in the planning stages, the doors to MIMC - The First Annual Music Marketing, Imaging and Media Conference - are now being extended to international music industry leaders.
Executives, artists and an array of industry-related organizations are rallying together for the Canadian conference so much so that Andrea David of the David North Agency, Inc. has begun
traveling abroad to discuss the objectives with executive heads directly.
In a recent telephone interview with Ms. David, she stated, We [DNA recognized the need within the Canadian music industry. But we [DNA did not expect the response to be this
overwhelming. I have been contacted by producers, artists, various international media outlets, college and university professors, major and independent record labels, distribution
companies The list just goes on and on. David went on to say, Why can'st more Canadian artists have record sales like American artists The talent is here. The market is here. This
conference is designed to be the first step in establishing a new Canadian music initiative.
MIMC is the first conference in Canada that will offer information and guidance to those within the music industry specifically on strategies to increase the sound, look, feel and
marketing potential of a musical project. The conference will also assist in understanding the media and the individuals responsible for introducing products to the market place (i.e.
radio, television, video, industry magazines/newspapers, Internet news sites and online communities).
A well-known industry leader of a highly-rated international music video show requested to remain anonymous but stated, I believe that this conference is very much needed, not only for
Canada, but in other parts of the world as well for, both, new and established artists. The new artists are oblivious to how they should set themselves up. The established artist leave it
to the record labels and wonder why their sales aren'st what they expected or their margins are so much smaller. The key is keeping it hot and keeping abreast of or understanding the
process and the strategy behind it.
The date of the conference has not been determined. DNA will keep you posted as things progress.
