Rainmakers Host Golf Outing to Benefit Goodwill Charter Schools

Rainmakers will host the Rainmaker Open golf outing September 16th at Brookshire Golf Course in Carmel. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit Indianapolis Metropolitan Career Academies (Indianapolis Met). Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc created the two public charter high schools in 2004. The Rainmaker Open is open to Rainmakers members and guests. The event is being marketed as the "un-golf golf outing" to encourage business professionals who may not be avid golfers to participate. The event is designed for business networking and fun. Participants are encouraged to purchase their golf attire at a local Goodwill store and can buy "Magic Golf Clubs" for mulligans.

The Rainmaker Open will start with a shotgun start at noon. Prizes will be award and the event includes a box lunch with a buffet dinner provided by Hoaglin Fine Catering at 5:30pm. Individual tickets are $85 and foursomes may be purchased for $300. Those who want to come only for the buffet dinner and evening networking can do so for $20. Barter Indiana Group and Hoaglin Fine Catering are the title sponsors of the first annual Rainmaker Open.

The Rainmaker Open proceeds will be used by Goodwill to purchase equipment for the Indianapolis Met schools. The schools are based on a model developed by the Big Picture Company of Providence, Rhode Island, that emphasize individual learning plans, focus on real-world learning, with two days a week in an internship with community professionals, a small school setting with only 120 students in the schools and 15 students to every teacher, college level courses and college preparation as part of the curriculum, and family involvement throughout the students education. The schools are located at Goodwill's Michigan Street Headquarters. For more information about the schools visit www.indianapolismet.org.

Rainmakers holds monthly meetings that are open to members and guests. The meetings are free to members and $20 for guests. More information about Rainmakers is available at www.gorainmakers.com or by calling 317-216-6345. For more information about the Rainmaker Open visit www.rainmakeropen.com
