Lancope Announces StealthWatch System 5.5 and Introduces User Identity Tracking
Lancope, Inc., the provider of StealthWatch, the most widely used Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced StealthWatch System 5.5, a system-wide upgrade which includes the launch of StealthWatch IDentity-1000 powered by A10 Networks, the first solution to tie network traffic and host behavior directly to user identity. As the first flow-based solution to unify network operations and security, StealthWatch now provides cost-effective network visibility and end point user identity intelligence, enabling network engineers and network planners to easily streamline network optimization and security processes, reduce the time and resources allocated to network optimization and eliminate the cost and complexity associated with non-integrated point solutions.
With StealthWatch System 5.5, network planners, security architects, and network operations personnel are provided a one-stop-shop for flow-based behavioral anomaly detection, network capacity planning, traffic analysis, and all things related to network health and optimization.
's8220;NBA systems have shown value in assisting organizations with their enterprise network monitoring requirements,'s8221; said Paul Proctor, research VP with Gartner, Inc. 's8220;By utilizing flow data, NBA systems provide network visibility that can be used primarily as a decision support system to help knowledgeable operators understand what is going on in their network. As these technologies evolve, they will provide deeper and richer intelligence about the operations of the network infrastructure.'s8221;
StealthWatch System 5.5 delivers the following key capabilities:
Router/Switch Monitoring & Reporting
In this release, StealthWatch introduces a wealth of network performance and optimization reporting capabilities designed to address the needs of enterprise class network operations teams. Using NetFlow and sFlow flow data formats from Cisco's8482;, Foundry's8482;, Extreme's8482;, Juniper's8482;, and HP's8482; routers and switches, StealthWatch now provides a unified flow-analysis system that combines behavior-based anomaly detection with a traffic reporting and network optimization views. Never before have network and security capabilities been so tightly meshed under a single operational system.
User Identity Tracking
Lancope's8217;s latest addition to the StealthWatch family, the IDentity-1000, is an appliance-based solution for user tracking that brings actual user behavior to the StealthWatch System, tying network flow data, alarms, alerts and host behaviors directly to the individual responsible for the activity. The new appliance provides built-in support for over eight market-leading identity store technologies. User tracking overcomes troublesome environments such as DHCP and VPN address pools by associating user login and logout events with hosts using the network. At the click of a mouse, StealthWatch operators can quickly reveal which user is logged into a node connected to the network or enter a login ID to view network activity associated with a given user.
Point-Of-View's8482; Technology
StealthWatch's8217;s advanced Point-Of-View's8482; UI technology uniquely extends the value of the StealthWatch network and security operational intelligence to all groups within IT. This role-based technology enables customized views, delegated operation and reporting of security, traffic accounting, interface utilization and host or user behavior. These customized views cater to the specific operational needs of IT personnel from a central, real-time database of network and security operational information.
's8220;Lancope continues to revolutionize the way enterprises view and manage network and security operations by delivering new and innovative network visibility and optimization functionality,'s8221; said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. 's8220;By leveraging the existing network infrastructure, our flow-based solution is easily deployed in customer environments and scales to meet their growing network operations and security needs. StealthWatch 5.5 marks the introduction of the first flow-based solution to unify both network optimization and security in a single system. In addition, StealthWatch now expands the usage of behavior-based anomaly detection technology, broadens the support of enterprise network infrastructures and ensures that customers gain maximum value.'s8221;
