InfoWorld awards OpenNMS Group Best of Open Source Software Bossiein...



OpenNMS Group, the world'ss first enterprise grade network management platform developed under the open source model, today announced that InfoWorld has awarded the company a coveted Best of Open Source Software Award, or Bossie, in the area of Networking and Network Management.



OpenNMS'ss position as the only truly open source, feature-rich enterprise-grade solution was the deciding factor in the award.



InfoWorld reported that OpenNMS is a purely open source software project, meaning that customers get the complete set of features available for free as open source. There is no 'senterprise's version. Zenoss provides an open source version of its software with a limited feature set for free, and it sells a more extensive 'senterprise's version of the software with support through an annual subscription. Because Zenoss'ss free open source edition falls far short of what OpenNMS provides for free, OpenNMS wins the Bossie.
