OnetoMany File Distribution over RealWorld IP Networks

Scalable Design has released version 1.0 of Mftp, a multi-platform software application that uses existing PCs and servers to provide functionality usually associated with Content Delivery Networks.



Distributing files over wide area networks can be time-consuming and frustrating. Network connections fail, computers crash, but files still need to be replicated quickly, reliably, and without wasting precious network bandwidth. Mftp evolves beyond the current FTP and HTTP file transfers by providing reliable, one-to-many file distribution, scalable to very large numbers of receiving clients. Mftp transfers are restartable, and oriented towards hands-off, unattended operation.



Unlike all TCP-based solutions, Mftp transfers do not slow down when traversing long distance, long round trip time paths. This leads to dramatic speedups versus FTP/HTTP. For example, Mftp transfers at 16X the speed of FTP/HTTP over a network path with a 100 millisecond round-trip-time.



Mftp integrates into Windows so your client users won'st have to learn anything new to take advantage of the power of Mftp. In fact, most users won'st do anything except install the Mftp receiver, and configure a multicast address. This allows network administrators to deploy Mftp to their clients without the need for expensive and time-consuming training.
