Always Love Sharon Bowling Benefit a Hit
The Always Love Sharon group held their 1st Annual Bowling Fundraiser at Town n Country Lanes in Westland MI on Saturday October 22, 2005.
Three individuals in memory of a deceased loved one, conceived the group, Always Love Sharon. Their goals are designed to raise funds for ALSA, through the ALS association of Michigan, and raise awareness of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig's disease after the famous New York Yankees star Lou Gehrig, who was diagnosed with ALS in the 1930s.
The event was chosen in particular because of Sharon's love for the game of bowling. A donation of $25.00 included 3 games of bowling (9-pin no tap), pizza and beverages. Also included in the donation were multiple drawings including gift certificates and other items from many area supporters of the group.
Excitement was in the air. Everyone in attendance felt like a winner this past Saturday. Prizes included Pistons Suite tickets, Red Wings center ice tickets, a large flat screen color TV, a DVD player and much, much more. Everyone in attendance received a thank you gift of some sort.
Raised for ALS of Michigan, was more than $6000.00. According to Sherry Kraft, Co-organizer and daughter of Sharon Coleman "This was definitely a worthwhile birthday present for our mom." In addition she added, "Remember, this is the 1st annual fundraiser, we will be back
next year stronger and more excited as ever."
The amount of interest and money raised for this cause is one example of this group's focus to find a cure for this devastating disease," explains Robert Coleman.
Currently Robert Coleman is challenging all attendees and family members to bring at least 2 new people to
next year 's event. For the person that brings the most new people a special award will be given.
"This fundraiser has been tremendously rewarding," Robert said.
"However,
next year 's event will only be successful with strong participation from the family and friends of Sharon Coleman."
Robert Coleman, Sherry Kraft and Melissa Delegarza will provide any information needed to help or participate in
next year 's event. Check their Website at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/alwayslovesharon
