Dont Forget Your Radios During Hurricane Preparedness Week with Hurricane Season Starting June 1 Find out Online Which Radio Stations have the Coverage You Want and Need

May 18, 2005 -- As the countdown to Hurricane Season continues during Hurricane Preparedness Week (May 15-21), cautious Floridians are stocking up on everything they need, especially batteries for their radios. This is very important when AC-powered TVs and PCs are no longer usable during a power outage.

Fortunately, most network-affiliate TV stations in the hurricane belt have agreements with one or more radio stations to carry their audio feeds during hurricane warnings for the benefit of those without power. "But who can remember which station has what when the lights are out" asks David Citron, webmaster of the South Florida Radio Pages.

The huge South Florida Radio Pages web site, which has served listeners in the Miami and West Palm Beach markets since 1995, has just completed its annual update of Hurricane Info on the Radio in South Florida for 2005.

The site cross-references TV stations with the AM and FM radio stations carrying their feeds. Plus, there is a grid of eleven regional NOAA National Weather Service stations and frequencies (on the 162 MHz Weather band) by location, covering Broward, Collier, Monroe, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties. The site also includes info about the latest convenient hand-cranked emergency radios.

Before the hurricane hits, print out your copy of Hurricane Info on the Radio in South Florida for 2005 (http://www.univox.com/radio/hurricane.html).
"And keep it in a dry place!" adds Citron.
