Detroit, MI May 13, 2006 -- Rev. Charles Williams II, founder of the Mary Church Terrell Council for Community Empowerment along with area elected officials and religious leaders will
sponsor a Peace in The Hood Rally at Campus Martius Park, downtown Detroit on May 13th at 9am to announce a major plan to secure peace in our neighborhoods.
"We are confident that we have strategy to ensure safety for all," said Williams who formed Peace in The Hood campaign to help end the tide of violence in Detroit.
More than 250 members of the Peace in The Hood Campaign will be at the rally, as well as spoken word artists, socially conscious Hip-Hop artists, civic leaders and community
activists.
Invited Speakers Include: Rev. Jim Holley, Rev. Wendell Anthony, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Horace Sheffield, Sen. Martha Scott, Sen. Hansen Clarke, Mayor Kwame
Kilpatrick, Councilmember Monica Conyers, Congressman John Conyers, Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, Commission Chair Jewel Ware, and Commissioner Alicia Bell along with other
community leaders and activists.
