OEC Kicks Off 8216Christmas In July8217 For Children Of Fallen Troops Following White House Visit With Pres. Bush
Robert McDowell, Founder of Operation Ensuring Christmas for Children of Fallen Troops, met today with President George W. Bush at the White House. The President thanked McDowell for the work OEC is doing for the children of the fallen. The President and McDowell discussed the programs that OEC provides for the children, the Christmas Gift Cards that are sent to the children during the Christmas Holidays and todays official launch of OECs 's8216;06 's8216;Christmas in July's8217; program that sends the children on a VIP, Orlando Theme Park vacation.
McDowell said, 's8220;Mr. President, these children truly are VIPs, Very Important 's8216;Precious lil heroes's8217; who have made the ultimate sacrifice a child can make for their country, the loss of a parent in service to our great Nation. When the time is right, the American people will be there to help them 's8216;be kids again's8217;. It is what their Hero parents would have wanted.'s8221;
McDowell also spoke of upcoming fund raising efforts like OECs's8217; Christmas CD project which will feature several 's8216;voices of the children's8217; of the fallen. 's8220;They are very excited about singing on the CD.'s8221; OEC is currently seeking assistance from the Music Industry and recording artists to complete the project.
Operation Ensuring Christmas was founded in October 2004 to provide financial, moral, and rehabilitative support to the children of fallen American troops. The organization provides children with Christmas gift cards during the holiday season, as well as a 's8220;Christmas in July's8221; Orlando Theme Park vacation. OECs's8217; programs are to help these children 's8216;be kids again's8217;. OECs's8217; children have received support from major Sports organizations, Foundations, Corporations and generous individual Americans.
