Dallas Cowboys All Pro Defensive Tackle LaRoi Glover Hosts Cocktail Reception to Benefit the LaRoi Glover Foundation



April 28, 2005 -- This intimate gathering will introduce you to some of the important work the Foundation is supporting in the community including the La'Roi Glover Foundation Scholarship Program and the Martin Bayless Youth Football Camp.

As a longtime resident of San Diego, three-time Pro Bowl player and Defensive Tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, La'Roi Glover established the La'Roi Glover Foundation in 1999 to provide scholarships for high school and college students in San Diego; work with the San Diego community to provide for individuals and families in need; and support nonprofit organizations that assist deserving children in achieving their educational goals.

The Foundation provides two annual scholarships to graduates of Point Loma High School, La'Roi's Alma Mater.

Over the next few years, the Foundation plans to increase the number of scholarships distributed, as well as develop a mentoring program to increase the likelihood of the students' professional success after their college careers. Eventually, the Foundation hopes to build an endowment that will provide at least 16 scholarships each year (4 renewable scholarships a year) based on the students' college grades and performance.

La'Roi's Foundation benefits children in the cities where he has lived and played football. His interests range from providing scholarship awards at the high school and University levels, to supporting children's hospitals.

The Cocktail Reception is one of several fundraising events the Foundation hosts to provide funding for their many goals.

This year's event will feature a live and silent auction amidst the most exclusive cars sold including Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Lotus, and T-Rex.

The finest in food and beverages will be served including Vodka drinks and gourmet desserts courtesy of our gracious sponsors Grey Goose and Shari's Berries.
