Sacramento, CA April 18, 2008 -- It's an annual tradition. Last Thursday, April 10, 2008, members of Sacramento's Association of Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) did what they do every year: give back to the community by raising money for a local nonprofit at their annual Broker of the Year Awards (BOYA) event. More than $150,000 was donated by the more than 700 attendees to Sacramento's leading provider of alternatives to institutional care for youth - Stanford Home for Children. Individuals, companies, and the Association itself gave generously to support Stanford Home for Children's new service center, which the organization will move into this summer.
As part of ACRE's commitment to help nonprofits develop capacity for future efforts, the nonprofit is challenged to raise matching funds from its community supporters. In just six months, Stanford Home for Children raised more than $250,000 to supplement ACRE's giving.
"We are so grateful for this incredible support," said Keith Diederich, Executive Director, "The ACRE members and our community supporters have sent a clear message that our community's kids and families most in need are not forgotten despite any economic uncertainty we might be experiencing as individuals."
Abiding by the proven model that the best place for a child is with safe, caring family, Stanford Home connects kids and family members through tailored solutions to fit each family's situation. Last year, more than 1,800 kids and family members benefited from Stanford Home's innovative programs.
