April 20, 2008 -- In its inaugural year, the Friends Of Uncle Sam, http://www.Friends-Of-Uncle-Sam.com, a community service program -- created by Yves Marie Danie Baptiste -- homeless children (and friends!) serve their neighborhoods by handing out fliers with information on free tax tips to help people in the filing of their income taxes.
On April 14, the day before taxes are due, 78 kids and 14 dogs, throughout New York City and Los Angeles, California, handed out flag stickers, jelly beans, and star-spangled coins to tax payers as a reward for filing their income taxes. The children and dogs were all dressed up in patriotic costumes.
Joining the tax day festivities, were clowns, jugglers, balloon-twisting artists, and both "Uncle" and "Aunty" Sam stilt-walkers.
