Electro Systems Electric Donates Angel Tickets To Orange County ALS Patients

May 8, 2005 -- Local businessman Mitch Cottrell of Electro Systems Electric donated Angels Baseball tickets to Orange County ALS patients. The tickets were originally purchased for Cottrell's clients, but when he received tickets for wheelchair access only, he decided to take advantage of the situation by offering the tickets to those who could really use them.

Cottrell purchased Diamond Club tickets on Ebay for 12 Angel games. He later realized the tickets were for wheelchair access only, which was not specified by the seller. After reading an article about Cottrell's situation in the Huntington Beach Wave, The ALS Association - Orange County Chapter contacted him to enquire about tickets for their local ALS patients. Cottrell immediately donated two pairs of the Diamond Club wheelchair access tickets along with its companion seat.

"What better way to celebrate ALS Awareness Month, than with baseball, honoring our connection to Lou Gehrig," said Carol Burby, executive director of the Orange County Chapter.

Since many ALS patients are confined to wheelchairs and no longer have use of most muscles, they are not able to attend events such as this without special accommodation. "Mr. Cottrell's generosity will allow two families that would otherwise not be able to attend a game to do so in luxury. We consider him our Angel."

Cottrell's company, Electro Systems Electric, is dedicated to providing Southern California with reliable, low cost electrical service since 1988. The company features a 24-hour "on call" service and is available for consultation by phone, fax and e-mail. Their goal is to supply customers with reliable, professional, low cost service in a timely manner.

The ALS Association is the only not-for-profit health organization dedicated entirely to the struggle against ALS. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurological disease that slowly paralyzes the body while the mind usually remains intact. ALS is a fatal disease and the average life expectancy for a patient is 2-5 years after diagnosis. The mission of The ALS Association - Orange County Chapter is to improve the quality of life for persons with ALS, while substantially contributing to The Nationals ALS Association's research effort to find a cure.
