The Junior League of OaklandEast Bay Inc Host 2005 Spring and Summer Open House Events
May 9, 2005 -- Do you want to volunteer in your community Do you want to help ensure children get opportunities to succeed in life Do you want to be a vehicle for change If you answered "Yes" to the questions above, then the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc. (JLOEB) invites you to join a world of nearly 170,000 women in 294 Leagues in four countries who make a difference in their communities every day through their volunteer efforts.
"Great possibilities and opportunities emerge when Californians come together to serve their communities and help others," said Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in his April 2005 letter of tribute to the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Inc.
Collaboration, Contributions and Community Service
Throughout its 70-year history, the JLOEB has contributed more than 7 million volunteer hours and approximately $3 million to community agencies who serve vulnerable children and their families. The impact of 70 years of Junior League voluntarism can be seen and felt throughout the Bay Area community. Programs include Junior Center of Arts and Science, the Family Stress Center, Contra Costa County Aids Task Force, Newborn Connections, Battered Women's Alternative's Transitional Housing, and the award-winning Super Stars Literacy Project.
"We train, organize research, volunteer, raise funds, advocate, lead, laugh, teach, network, make new friends, learn, grow, and most importantly, help children," said Leslie Bates, JLOEB President Elect, 2005-06. "We invite women in the Bay Area to help us remain a powerful voice for Children at Risk and recognize the possibility of change that is within each woman as they make Junior League part of their lives."
