National Strength and Conditioning Association Selects Board Nominees
May 18, 2005 -- The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently announced six candidates for its three open Member-At-Large, Board of Directors positions.
The six qualified candidates come from various backgrounds, and are dedicated
strength and conditioning professionals with the success of the NSCA as their first priority. The three winning candidates will be announced July 8, 2005 during the NSCA's National Conference in Las Vegas.
The nominees are:
Jose Antonio, PhD, CSCS. Dr. Antonio is the CEO and Co-founder of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, Chief Science Officer of Javalution Coffee Company, Director of Exercise and Sports Nutrition Research at the Institute of Human Performance, and Sports Science Consultant. In addition to his work, he has been published in over 300 magazine articles, over 40 scientific publications, six books, and several book chapters.
Michael W. Doscher, MS, CSCS, Coach Practitioner. Mr. Doscher is the Speed/Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and Instructor at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. As a member since 1989, he has given back to the association by serving as the State Director for Georgia, serving on the College Strength and Conditioning Professional Special Interest Group Committee as the Division II representative, serving on the Student Assistantship Committee, and as a Coach Practitioner.
Allen Hedrick, MA, CSCS, Coach Practitioner. Mr. Hedrick is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. With nearly 20 years as an NSCA member, he has bestowed his knowledge to the profession and association through his work as a column editor for the Strength and Conditioning Journal, participant in NSCA leadership summit meetings, as a Coach Practitioner, and guest speaker at numerous conferences and events.
Michael J. Ranieri, MBA, CSCS,*D, NSCA-CPT,*D. Mr. Ranieri is the owner of Custom Training, LLC-a personal and sports training facility in Union, New Jersey. He seamlessly incorporates his business experience and fitness training skills to provide a common sense approach to leadership. He volunteers his talents to the NSCA through his work as a second term NSCA State/Provincial Director for New Jersey, and Committee Member for the Personal Trainer Special Interest Group.
John H. Taylor, MS, CSCS,*D, Coach Practitioner. Mr. Taylor is the Head Performance Training Coach and Adjunct Instructor at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. During his fourteen years in the
strength and conditioning profession, he has volunteered his service as NSCA Chair of the College Strength and Conditioning Professionals Special Interest Group, as a State/Provincial Director, national and local speaker, Coach Practitioner, article reviewer, and author of numerous professional journal articles.
Diane Vives, CSCS,*D. Ms. Vives is the President and Director of Vives Training Systems, LLC in Austin, Texas, Consultant and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Dr. Phil Show-Weight Loss Challenge 2005, and Sports Science Committee member for the United States Tennis Association-Texas section. In addition to her work, she volunteers her business and training expertise as the NSCA Southwest Regional Coordinator, and through numerous presentations at NSCA conferences and clinics.
