City Club of Portland Begins Podcasting Weekly Forums

May 21, 2005 -- City Club of Portland is happy to announce "podcasting" of its weekly Friday Forums. Like news feeds and blog aggregators, this new feature of City Club's Web site allows users with iPods or similar devices to automatically download and store MP3 audio files for later listening.

City Club already posts the two most recent Friday Forums, accessible for free from the "Listen Online" section of the Friday Forum page on the City Club Web site
(www.pdxcityclub.org/forums-events/friday-forums.php). Visitors with podcasting technology can access the podcasting feature via the feed URL linked from the orange button labeled "POD." Other visitors can continue to click on the links to individual forums to listen using RealPlayer, Windows Media Player or similar audio software.

About Podcasting
Created by former MTV VJ Adam Curry, podcasting was developed to offer downloadable audio to enjoy whenever and wherever a user wants from the convenience of a home computer, iPod or other MP3 listening device. The term "podcasting" is meant to rhyme with "broadcasting" and is a derivative of the iPod Platform. Much like TiVo for television or blog aggregators and Web site newsfeeds, podcasting software automatically detects and downloads future forums to an audio device.
