Discover Asia 2005 Extends Support to Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort
The Austin Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AAACC) will host Discover Asia 2005 over the weekend of September 17-18. This year¡s program celebrates Korean culture and Korean contributions to the Austin community. Event venues include the Texas Culinary Academy, Renaissance Austin Hotel and Teravista Golf Club.
The fun-filled weekend of family events will be kicked off with anƒnIron Chef-style Asian cooking competition, sponsored by the Texas Culinary Academy, dubbed Cook Austin Weird, between local celebrity restaurateurs such as Chef David Bull of The Driskill Grill and Chef Daniel Lee of Bistro 88. The Cook Austin Weird event will also be judged by local celebrities including Chef Jeff Blank, Chef Tyson Cole, City Manager Toby Futrell, City Council Member Jennifer Kim and The Austin Chronicle Food Critic Mick Vann.
The AAACC will aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina by contributing 50% of all net proceeds from Cook Austin Weird to help with the recovery process. The public is invited to attend this event.
