Modesto, CA September 19, 2005 -- Michelle Gossman, Lisa Summers, and Astrea Ward, administrators of the upcoming entertainment website Web Trinket, are pleased to announce that Celtic Rock Band Tempest will headline in their upcoming Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert in San Francisco October 2, 2005 beginning at 3:00pm at the Civic Center Plaza directly across the street from city hall. The concert will also feature Celtic Rock band Avalon Rising, as well as many different charitable organizations committed to providing relief to Katrina victims. Habitat for Humanity and The Salvation Army will be present to accept cash donations, as well as other goods such as non-perishable food items and infant care products. Donations prior to the event should be sent to Astrea Ward P.O. Box 576916 Modesto CA 95357.
Sound engineering will be generously provided by Golden State Sound located in Santa Rosa California.
Tempest fuses traditional material with high-energy rock intensity, and is renowned for its dynamic and electrifying concerts. The band is regularly featured at prestigious festivals including The Philadelphia Folk Festival, Denmark's Skagen Festival, Britain's Cropredy Festival, and the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, "At the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Tempest brought down the house with its mad, high-energy mix of Scottish, Irish, and Scandinavian traditions filtered through driving rock and roll. Here's a band to convince your oh-so-bored adolescent kids that folk isn't so geeky after all.
Avalon Rising, based in Oakland, CA, has been performing in the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest for twelve years at clubs, festivals, pubs, benefits, and conventions. "Avalon Rising plays bright, bouncy Celtic pop -- lotsa tunes about shires and maidens and chimney sweeps -- with a dark undercurrent of technically precise trickiness, as though the Jethro Tull dudes had been sneaking into rehearsals..."according to Rob Harvila, Music Editor for East Bay Express.
Gossman, Summers, and Ward are simply three friends that wanted to contribute to the Hurricane relief efforts while providing an entertaining atmosphere for people to open their hearts to the many victims of this recent natural disaster.
The Hurricane Katrina Celtic Rock Benefit Concert is open to the general public.
