January 22, 2005 -- VisionTrust International, a Colorado Springs, Colorado based charity that works with impoverished children in third-world countries, has already begun distributing
Tsunami Survival Kits in Chennai, India, one of the coastal cities that received major damage from the recent killer tsunami. VisionTrust staff members in Chennai have assembled and have
begun distribution of simple, yet much needed supplies to the residents in ravaged coastal communities. The survival kits contain various supplies that the local nationals believe will
help ease the burden of the tragedy and meet basic immediate needs like a tent, cooking stove, cooking utensils, food, water, matches, clothing, and assistance information. Donations to
help purchase Survival Kits have been coming in to the VisionTrust local World Headquarters from as far away as Canada.
Chennai is located on the southeastern side of India, on the Bay of Bengal, directly west from the epicenter of Sunday's earthquake. Being directly in the path of the resulting giant
tsunami, Chennai has incurred massive damage and loss of life.
While many people want to donate food and clothing, Dr. Ernest Taylor, VisionTrust International founder and CEO, asks that for those wanting to make donations, the best donation is
money. "Residents in these destroyed communities need food, water, clothing and other basics needed for survival. Because of our contacts and staff already living in India, we can acquire
more of those needed items right in India, make the donations go further, and avoid the expense of shipping."
Tax-deductible donations to supply Tsunami Survival Kits to the victims of the killer tsunami in Chennai, India can be made by calling VisionTrust World Headquarters in Colorado Springs

VisionTrust International, a 501(C)3, non-profit charity, has 87 projects in 3 countries impacted by the recent tsunami; India, Myanmar, and Thailand. So far, they have received no
reports of deaths to the children in their programs; however, the risk of tsunami-caused water-borne communicable disease is a growing concern in the affected areas. VisionTrust
International encourages sponsors of children in the areas hit by the tsunami to continue to pray for the children and the relief efforts.
VisionTrust's mission is to develop orphaned and neglected children into mature Christian adults in their own country. It does this by enabling Christian nationals to meet the children's
physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual needs. They are currently working with orphanages, learning centers, schools, medical clinics, and short-term mission opportunities at
their ministry projects throughout the world. The organization provides the children with food, clothing, medical attention, education, school uniforms, school supplies and textbooks. VTI
is funded by donations from the public and by those who sponsor the children.
