The Evangelism Explosion International Board of Directors has made two key leadership appointments during its annual Board of Directors meeting held March 5-7, 2008 at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Board of Directors named Dr. Sterling W. Huston as Chairman of the Board, a position held by Dr. D. James Kennedy for over 40 years. Dr. Huston has been a member of the Board of
Directors for Evangelism Explosion International since 1991, and has served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee.
Dr. Huston is Director of Special Ministries for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He is also the Chair of the Internet Evangelism Coalition.
The Board of Directors also named Rev. John B. Sorensen as President. John was led to the Lord through Evangelism Explosion and was trained in the ministry in 1991. He joined staff on
January 1, 1997 and was appointed as EE's Director for Development in October 1997. In January 2004, John was elected as Executive Vice President, following Dr. Tom Stebbins in that
position.
These leadership changes were made necessary by the passing of former EE President and Chairman of the Board, Dr. D. James Kennedy, who died on September 5, 2007.
"I praise God for the life of Dr. D. James Kennedy and the ministry of Evangelism Explosion International," said Rev. Sorensen. "He established an incredible foundation for us to continue
this race to the glory of God."
Evangelism Explosion began as a ministry in 1962. Its mission is to equip people to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ who, in turn, equip others. Throughout its 46-year history, EE has
equipped millions of people with the Gospel. In 1996, EE became the first Christian ministry to be planted in every country on earth.
