Relief from the Daily Grind Free Coffee House Ministry To NourishThe...



With the reality of tough economic times, unprecedented layoffs and families struggling to make ends meet, Green Lake United Methodist Church will be offering a free coffee house ministry from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday starting September 14 at the church to give people relief from the daily grind and find hope in their community.



We want to help people get back on their feet, says the Reverend Lisa Anthony, the pastor of the church. It might be a person who'ss homeless living in their car, a family now living on one salary instead of two or a student living month to month, barely making ends meet.



Along with a free cup of java, the church, located on the corner of North 65th St and 1st Ave NE near Green Lake in Seattle, will offer:



* Daily Morning Prayer services from 7 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Monday through Friday


* Local resource lists to help people find needed employment, housing and food


* Weekday and evening meditative yoga classes


* Weekly bible studies and fellowship for families of all ages



Green Lake United Methodist Church has a rich, 100-year plus history of serving the needs of its working class neighborhood with programs dedicated to helping families grow and thrive near Green Lake.



It offers a Contemporary Arts worship service at 9 a.m. and a Classical Arts worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. It is also home to Green Lake School Age Program (GLSA) which offers before and after school programs for children attending Green Lake Elementary School and is a popular venue for local arts and music programs.
