The Board of Directors and members of Social Services Network (SSN) as the lead South Asian agency in York Region, is working with partners at United Way of York Region to counsel and
support family members impacted by the recent events in South Asia.
SSN, an agency funded by United Way York Region will:

to groups in need at community facilities and municipal offices;
--refer critical incident cases to appropriate agencies;
--assist the affected individuals with information, referrals and form completion support, related to family sponsorship
--offer emotional support in the language of client s own choice, including but not limited to Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu
--support settlement of newcomers by referral to relevant services
--improve awareness of the range and mandate of human service providers in York Region
--use all media, and in particular multilingual and South Asian media to promote availability of services
--quickly access volunteers and recruit additional volunteers to address short and longer terms needs, and enable grief and trauma-stricken family members to congregate at Centre for
Information and Community Service office in Markham.
SSN continues to be uniquely positioned and enabled to mobilize the most appropriate services in this critical time, providing services in a culturally and linguistically sensitive
manner.
