Small California Church Raises 28000 for Tsunami Relief



January 23, 2005 -- In an out pouring of love and money, the Capistrano Valley Church of Religious Science in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., collected and donated more than $28,000 from its congregation in the month of January for tsunami relief. The donations went to Clarendon, a relief organization in Sri Lanka, and Operation U.S.A.&&&




The church collected more than $22,000 in the first week in January and then the additional $6,000 was raised during a recent concert by Daniel Nahmod, a spiritual singer-songwriter, and other musicians.

"We are a small but extremely blessed church community and we enjoy sharing that prosperity with others," said Rev. Dr. Heather Clark, senior minister for the CVCRS. "We know the money raised through our giving will do so much good for so many in need."&&&

The Capistrano Valley Church of Religious Science (CVCRS) serves more than 200 families in the South Orange County area in learning and studying the principals outlined in the Science of Mind, a book written by well-known philosopher and religious teacher, Dr. Ernest Holmes. The church congregation believes in a spiritual universe, ruled by a creative intelligence which operates in a pattern of law and love.
