The WILD Foundation (http://www.wild.org) was founded in 1974, and now -- 35 years later -- WILD is still the only international organization dedicated entirely to wilderness protection around the world. This cause requires vision and dedication from conservation professionals and passionate supporters in many countries. Professor, lawyer, activist, accountant, writer, photographer, scientist: these are just a few of the titles attributed to the people who dedicate themselves to the work of The WILD Foundation. But, The WILD Foundation cannot continue to thrive without the support of people showing their dedication to the cause of wilderness protection with financial contributions.
In order to better serve those people who really want to be involved with wilderness conservation, and to engage with supporters around the world, The WILD Foundation has completely
revamped its online presence. Completed in early January, the new WILD.org (http://www.wild.org) boasts a host of dynamic content and interactive
features.
Visitors to the new WILD.org enjoy a clean, efficient look. Information is easy to find; visitors are only ever one click away from each section of the site. Visitors can read about
WILD'ss founder saving the rhino from the brink of extinction in Africa or learn about the wilderness law in Norway. Visitors can browse through WILD'ss most recent field projects,
quickly familiarizing themselves with WILD'ss work with desert elephants, Olive Ridley turtles (http://www.wild.org/field-projects/endangered-olive-ridley-turtles/), AIDS orphans, and more. Visitors can also
support WILD'ss work by purchasing items from the WILD Store or donating online using WILD'ss secure donation system.
Visitors are also encouraged to experience the newest areas of WILD.org:
1) A multi-media section (http://www.wild.org/main/community/wild-multimedia/) where WILD hosts
videos and photos concerning wilderness conservation and field projects.
2) A forum where visitors can register and discuss a wide array of wilderness topics.
3) A sub-site devoted specifically to youth and the important role they play in The WILD Foundation and the ongoing mission to protect wilderness areas and
indigenous people around the globe.
The new WILD.org is frequently updated and people are invited to subscribe to the RSS feed of Talking WILD, the official blog of The WILD Foundation. Subscribing and checking back often
ensures you won'st miss anything WILD does.
The new WILD.org however, is just the beginning of WILD'ss new profile online. All of WILD'ss videos will be available on video sharing websites like YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/thewildfoundation) and Vimeo, and photos of WILD events and field projects can be found on Flickr. The WILD
Foundation is also proud to bring its mission and message directly to supporters by having profiles on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-WILD-Foundation/33532222308), MySpace, and Twitter. People are highly encouraged to
connect with WILD on their favorite networks in order to help support WILD in protecting the earth'ss wild places.
About The WILD Foundation:
Founded in 1974, WILD is the only international organization dedicated entirely and explicitly to wilderness protection around the world. WILD works to protect the planet'ss last wild
places and the wildlife and people who depend upon them, because wilderness areas provide essential social, spiritual, biological and economic benefits. We believe that intact wilderness
areas are an essential core element of a healthy society.
