"We have relied on RES-Q software since 1997 to establish surgery schedules that preclude staffing and equipment conflicts, ensure clinically appropriate staffing, save time and boost productivity. Over the past decade, the software has been dependable, and RES-Q's support has been outstanding," said Katherine Carr, R.N., director of surgical services, Whidbey General Hospital. "With the upgrade to 6.0, we can now take advantage of advanced features for perioperative charting and inventory control."
RES-Q Perioperative Resource Management automates the review and verification of individual surgeons' preferences, personnel and equipment requirements, supply lists and inventory, and operating room availability. It then establishes surgical case schedules that maximize efficiency by minimizing conflicts and reducing waiting times.
Perioperative Charting gives users the flexibility to customize templates and thereby capture the exact information required to document patient activity and automate the calculation of case costs and revenues. On-line integration with the AORN Perioperative Nursing Data Set provides a "best practice" model for documentation and supports compliance with professional and regulatory healthcare standards. Data from the RES-Q surgical case record can be sent directly to a hospital's electronic data repository through an HL7 interface, eliminating the cumbersome and time-consuming process of scanning paper case records and manually attaching them to patient accounts. Finance departments get immediate access to essential data for billing.
The Inventory Control module automates supply use monitoring and tracks inventory levels. Via preference lists requested for each specific surgical case, the module generates a pick list that is used to prepare a complete surgical pack or cart for use during surgery. In addition to managing inventory for each individual case, the module monitors all inventory levels and identifies low-inventory and out-of-stock items and items for reorder.
RES-Q Healthcare Systems will demonstrate its resource management and scheduling software at the Nursing Management Congress 2007, September 16-19, 2007, Booth #416, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Chicago, Ill. and at Managing Today's OR Suite (MTORS), October 3-5, 2007, Booth #600, Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, Calif.
