Yoga Vedanta and Tantra Sep 911 East Aurora Buffalo New York

There will be four separate lectures and guided meditation sessions with Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati (Swami J) on the weekend of September 9-11, 2005 in East Aurora, New York (Buffalo/Toronto area). You may attend one, two, three, or all four sessions.

Those who attend all four classes will find this is an intensive experience focusing on the convergence point (bindu) of the highest principles and practices of Raja Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, and Samaya (Internal) Tantra (Sri Vidya), as well as the convergence point of Meditation, Contemplation, Prayer, and Mantra. You will also see how this convergence point is part of the mystical, esoteric aspect of most religions. By understanding the convergence point of these practices, you can see how all of the various practices of Yoga and Meditation can be done in the context of being support structures or preparation for the higher practices, experiences, and revelations.

These teachings and trainings on this highest perspective (the convergence point of the practices) will be most enjoyed by those people who insist on reading the last page of a book first. Such people are not satisfied with incomplete representations of Yoga and Meditation, such as those limited to physical fitness, stress management, or medical treatment. They want to see the big picture of beginning, intermediate, and advanced meditation with a clear vision of the path and the means of attaining the final goal. These four sessions are all very practical, down to earth training on the highest convergence point of Yoga and Meditation.

1) Converging the Schools of Yoga, Friday, Sep 9, 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm: Discussion of the convergence point of Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, as well as the other Yogas which support these four classical schools of Yoga, including Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Kriya Yoga, and Laya Yoga. We will also explore the convergence point within Sankhya, which is the philosophical foundation of Yoga, and do a guided practice on awareness of the evolutes of Prakriti, the primordial matter, mind and senses (indriyas). There will be guided practices from Yoga Sutras, including four attitudes, inner luminosity, sensory awareness, and the pure mind along with experiential practice on how these relate to that most subtle convergence point.

2) Integrating OM Mantra and Contemplation, Saturday, Sep 10, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm: Integrating the contemplative processes of OM Mantra, including the four functions of mind (manas, chitta, ahamkara, and buddhi), the four planes of reality (gross, subtle, causal, absolute), and the four levels of consciousness (waking, dreaming, deep sleep, and the fourth state, turiya). We will review the twelve profound verses of Mandukya Upanishad (said to contain the distilled juice of the entire wisdom of the sages), describing the subtleties of OM Mantra. We will also discuss the convergence point of Meditation, Contemplation, Prayer, and Mantra. This session includes guided contemplations on all of these processes.

3) Seven Practical Methods of Using OM Mantra, Saturday, Sep 10, 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm: Part 1: Practical training in 7 means of using OM Mantra; Part 2: One hour of continuous group chanting of OM

4) The Subtlest Tantra and Bhuta Shuddhi, Sunday, Sep 11, 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm: Practical discussion of the three schools of tantra (Kaula, Mishra, and Samaya), particularly Samaya, which is the highest, as elucidated by Swami Rama, including the higher practices (the "shortest cut") that he repeatedly described about Sri Vidya, the process of the knowledge of the creative or Mother force. Guided practices will include Bhuta Shuddhi, purifying the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, space) in the chakras, leading to sahasrara, the crown chakra. There will also be guided practice into Guru Chakra (Jnana Chakra), the center for the shakti diksha (initiation) that opens the conduit to the teacher or guru within, as well as for the direct, internal transmissions of wisdom and experience given by the Himalayan masters.
