Sri Lanka in Style in conjunction with Ceylon Tea Trails add to their amazing collection of walking, hiking and biking discovery trails high-up in the cool of Sri Lanka'ss Tea Country; a veritable paradise for trekkers of all abilities.
Staying in one of four fabulously restored tea-estate managers residences in the Tea Trails Collection (http://www.srilankainstyle.com/property.phpid=17's38;name=Tea%20Trails's38;type=Hotel), clients
are offered the opportunity to do as little or as much activity as they would like, relaxing at the bungalows or exploring the diverse trails, on foot or bicycle, that link each of the
properties.
Sri Lanka in Style has a particularly close affinity with Ceylon Tea Trails, says Miguel Cunat, CEO of Sri Lanka in Style. I myself helped to carve-out the original trekking, walking and
biking routes some years ago in-conjunction Ceylon Tea Trails so it is particularly exciting to see additional routes and trails being added.
Ceylon Tea Trails is a collection of 4 four colonial-style bungalows built for British tea estate managers that date back to 1888 and the days of the Raj. At some 4,000 feet above sea
level, each of the bungalows enjoys spectacular and panoramic views over Sri Lanka'ss 200,000 hectares of rolling, verdantly green and renowned tea country (http://www.srilankainstyle.com/area.phpname=The%20Tea%20Country's38;id=16's38;cat=main's38;type=Hotel).
The Ceylon Tea Trails may well be the most entrancing place I have ever stayed said Will Buckley in his article titled On the trail of tea and turtles (The Observer (UK), Sunday October
5, 2008).
Often referred to as the Golden Valley of Tea, the rolling tea carpeted hills of Sri Lanka'ss Central Highlands are a surreal experience and with every step one takes or every revolution
one peddles a new surprise unfolds before you; one moment the scene is classically Scottish Highlands, the next picturesque Provence and as the sun descends in the afternoon the views
mimic picture perfectly that of a Scottish Glen.
Ceylon Tea Trails has opened up a world of adventure and discovery in the Bogowantalawa Valley an area that has up until recently been relatively restricted largely due to the lack of
acceptable accommodation; a void filled by Tea Trails. The pristine trails through immaculate tea gardens provide a wide array of walks, adventure trails and mountain bike rides for all
different levels of ability and an unparalleled experience.
The four bungalows comprising Ceylon Tea Trails are set between 4 and 15 kilometers apart and the trails are designed to incorporate the bungalows offering opportunities such as afternoon
tea and refreshments. The newly launched trail covers 8 kilometers and departs from Norwood Bungalow (http://www.srilankainstyle.com/property.phpid=17's38;name=Tea%20Trails's38;type=Hotel), diving
head-long into tea estates with magnificent views of the Bogowantalawa valley.
On the horizon, the silhouette of a rock formation, commonly known as the Dukes Nose or Singhamaley in Tamil, resembles a man sleeping. Pass children on their way to or back from school
and stop at Hindu Temples frequented by the estate workers to experience the Pooja; a melee of music and color.
Each of the trails offers 360 panoramic views; a treasure chest for landscape, nature, travel and portrait photographers. Look down over the Castlereagh Reservoir on the C2 Trail or be
rewarded with breathtaking views of Adam'ss Peak (http://www.srilankainstyle.com/sri_lanka_experience_page.phpexpid=14's38;name=Climbing%20Adam)
on the N1 Trail. Pass tea estate factories on the C4 Trail and spot barking dear on the N2 Trail. With incredible views taking-in tea estates, reservoirs, mountains and villages the
walking is idyllic, suited to all ages and levels of endurance and endeavor.
I'sm certain that no mode of transport gets you closer to a place than cycling through it and by pedaling across Sri Lanka you earn a chilled beer or two at the end of each day said Robin
Barton (The Independent UK, Sunday 6 May 2007), Don'st think that the Tea Trails tour is for hardcore cyclists either; the emphasis is firmly on the sightseeing rather than the riding.
All days have manageable mileages for even occasional bikers.
Walking, hiking and mountain biking are all delightful ways of experiencing the varied landscapes, lush and exotic flora, abundant birdlife and the sweet rhythm of life in a tea garden.
Whilst staying with Ceylon Tea Trails (http://www.srilankainstyle.com/property.phpid=17's38;name=Tea%20Trails's38;type=Hotel), a
leisurely walk, an adventure trek or a challenging mountain bike ride all provide rewards of vistas of mountain lakes, the verdant, beautifully manicured hillside tea gardens, forests and
doll'ss house villages.
Dr Tom Strivens, a 74 year old who joined a Tea Trails Cycle Tour commented: The only white knuckles I get are holding my gin and tonic in the evening.
