Raquel (Rocky) Willson, 7, a US-born California girl whose British father, Alex Willson, retained her in Spain during the family'ss return to California from vacation in June of 2004, (according to Eau Claire, Wisconsin family court documents Case no. 04-FA-0488), against the American mother'ss wishes, may finally get to come home this July 4th holiday with her mom permanently. The hearing scheduled in Vera Family court in Spain for July 3rd is to modify the joint custody orders # 596/2006 to full custody to the American mom due to a complete lack of contact with her daughter from August 2006 to December 2008. During this two and a half year period, the mother traveled to Spain 8 times to see her American daughter, only to discover the child had been removed from school 2 to 4 days prior to her arrival.
The American mom, Dawn Willson, is seeking relief, in the Spanish Vera Family Courts, after repeated visitation violations by the British father from August 2006 to December 2008
according to Vera Family Court Case No. 2007-001333-0c-2274 in Spain. The Father, Alex Willson, was cited for contempt and fined for a visitation violation in September of 2008 from
December 2007 according to the Vera Family court documents Case #No. 2007-001333-0c-2274 in Spain.
In fact, the mother obtained two documents from the Spanish Ministry of Interior that plainly states Spain has no record of residency for anyone in the Willson family in Spain in 2007.
The mother hopes that she can present this evidenciary documentation, to the Spanish court on July 3rd, that she believes proves a false jurisdiction in Spain was established, as well as,
other issues concerning the welfare of their daughter that has launched an ongoing internal affairs investigation into two LAX police officers and Los Angeles County Social Services
according to Internal Affairs case no. 2008-3137 in November 2008.
The moment Mr. Willson got physical custody of our daughter I was cut off, states Ms. Willson, I had no idea where she was for almost three years. I had no address, no phone number,
nothing. And we supposedly shared joint legal custody.
As a result of the nightmarish international four-year custody battle other parents have begun to reach out to Ms. Willson for advice with peer support. In the summer of 2008 she
established the Willson 's38; Associates Network, due to the amount of networking she herself did with nonprofits and other agencies to fight for her daughters human and civil rights. As
a result of her work she was nominated by W.A.V.E. (Women Against Violence in Europe) and USSwomen.org based in Oregon, in 2008 for Amnesty International'ss Ginetta Sagan Award. In fact,
they have been a huge support to Ms. Willson and have recently invited her as of last week, to serve on the subcommittee for the renewal of the Women Against Violent Act (WAVA) funding
act that Vice President Joe Biden put into place. Ms. Willson will be helping to expand the funding bill to cover American women abroad who are caught in abusive situations.
