Over 30 dance companies, schools and performance groups will come together to help raise awareness and collect donations for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for those in need in the
wake of Hurricane Katrina. The dance fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Mall in North Wales, PA.
Members of the performing arts community are driven to promote this relief effort. Through their individual and collective talents, they hope to create a spirit of giving that all of us
can be part of in helping those most in need.
Dance performances as well as participatory dancing and free dance instruction will take place non-stop in the three major court-stage areas at the Montgomery Mall. Red Cross donation
tables will be set up throughout the mall, staffed by the Montgomery Mall Teen Players as well as young adults from dance companies throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region. All funds
collected will go directly to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Katrina.
Dance for Hurricane Relief was conceived and developed by area teens and youth from the Greater Philadelphia Region, who felt a strong need and commitment to help those who have suffered
from the ravages of Katrina. They were not content to simply watch images on television or read news stories about the suffering of others, but have chosen instead to become involved in
mounting a campaign that will hopefully raise significant funds to help in the Red Cross relief efforts. Public and private support for this event is encouraged and welcomed.
