HGTVPro Launches Online Contractor Service

HGTVPro.com (http://www.hgtvpro.com) and Contractors.com (http://www.contractors.com) are bringing the 'find a contractor' service for homeowners into the consumer mainstream. HGTVPro.com the online network for home professionals powered by HGTV, now houses Contractors.com's directory of more than 1.2 million design, planning, building and renovation contractors. In addition, the directory will be available through the marketplace area of the No. 1 home and garden information website, HGTV.com (http://www.hgtv.com), along with DIYNetwork.com (http://www.diynetwork.com) and FineLiving.com (http://www.fineliving.com), two other sites from Scripps Networks Interactive.

Visitors to these websites are able to submit information about their home projects to contractors who will quote on the jobs. All certified members listed in the directory must have required licenses in place and be adequately insured and bonded.

"This partnership presents Contractors.com certified members and other contractors across the country to approximately 2 million consumers every month via Scripps Networks Interactive websites," explains Brian Bruce, site director for HGTVPro.com. "Our websites are trusted online destinations for consumers and professionals. This tool allows us to 'marry' the two audiences while providing a highly valuable resource to both sides."

Contractors.com founder and CEO Kurt Reuss says consumers will be able to view each member's profile, as well as reviews from actual customers when available. "A maximum of three contractors will be asked to quote on each project so homeowners are not inundated by replies to their service requests and so contractors aren't part of a stampede of professionals chasing the same job," he explains.
