Finally, a talk show series that speaks to young people in the language and the medium they understand. Hollywood Dish is a new Pop-Culture Talk series developed to specifically target a young adult audience. It is slated to make its premiere debut in February 2009. The show is the proposed response to the decline in TV viewership amongst young adults, ages 18 to 34.
The decrease in television viewership is attributed to the increased interest and time spent online. According to an IDC survey online users spend 32.7 hours a week online almost twice as
much time than spent watching television. Social networking sites account for the bulk of online usage by young people ages 18 to 34. According to the Comscore reports in October, 33.9
billion hours were spent on Facebook and 18.5 billion hours on MySpace.
In order to attract the Facebook/MySpace audience, show developers decided to create Hollywood Dish, a web series that takes a lighthearted look at Pop-Culture, that is instantly
accessible and fits the lifestyle needs of the Net Generation. It is a unique form of entertainment that can easily be adapted into New Media and television platforms.
Hollywood Dish will feature a young and up-and-coming cast, as muticultural and diverse as the generation they represent. The cast, which has yet to be officially announced, will come
from backgrounds in radio/TV hosting, broadcast journalism and stand-up comedy. Some of the casting sessions have already been circulated YouTube creating Pre-Industry Buzz.
