Pacquiao Hosts PostChristmas PostBirthday Victory Celebration



Boxer Manny Pacquiao, fresh off his victory against Oscar Dela Hoya in Las Vegas on December 6, is hosting a Post-Christmas/Post-Birthday Celebration at the J Lounge in downtown Los Angeles, on Friday, December 26 at 9pm.



Pacquiao, who just turned 30 on Dec 17, solidified his claim to being the best boxer in the world today, pound-for-pound, after he capped his grand slam and record-breaking year with a technical knockout win over the legendary Oscar Dela Hoya. Pacquiao also won the 130-pound World Boxing Council title and the 135-pound WBC version, on his way to becoming the thumbs-up and unanimous choice as 2008 Fighter of the Year.



The storybook ending to this year'ss incredible run is a rarity in boxing sports history and what a way to end the year than for Pacquiao to celebrate it with friends, family and supporters in Los Angeles, where hes been training since 2001.



Proceeds from the event will benefit The Blue Diamond Foundation, which was established to assist those who need access to medical care.



Manny worked really hard leading up to this fight, and now it'ss time to take a moment to celebrate -- and there'ss no better way to celebrate, then to pay tribute to those who are less fortunate at the same time too, says Winchell Campos, Pacquiao'ss long time friend and biographer. Everyone in the world is connected to everyone else, and Manny believes firmly in giving back to those who are less fortunate, in any way that he can.



We'sre thrilled that Mr. Pacquiao is thinking of us, says founder and CEO of the Blue Diamond Foundation, T. L. Kittle. Every day there are thousands who are suffering from lack of access to proper medical care in this country, and successful men and women like Mr. Pacquiao can do a lot to alleviate it -- we'sre very grateful for his support.
