Western Electronics (www.westernelectronics.com) announced that it has introduced conformal coating capabilities to complement its printed-circuit-board assembly capabilities and value-added solution offerings. Western Electronics is a full service contract electronics manufacturer providing design-for-manufacturability/testability, procurement/supply-chain management, printed-circuit-board assembly, wire-harness and cable assembly, box-build and upper level assembly, logistics and end-order-fulfillment, and now conformal coating services.
Western Electronics recognized a need for conformal coat capability to support several existing customers primarily in the automotive and industrial market segments, as well as to offer
an additional service to its target customers. Western Electronics operates ISO 9001 certified facilities in Idaho and Colorado, and will offer conformal coat capability out of its
Westminster, Colorado operation.
The conformal coat equipment and process were internally qualified in January with customer qualification completed in February, and is now being introduced on a general availability
basis to the market. Western Electronics will use acrylic resin materials for current customer conformal coat requirements, and has the additional capability to apply urethane and
silicone resins.
"In response to our customer's requirements, we have introduced conformal coat capability, and appreciate their partnering with Western Electronics on the timely qualification of this
process," said Rob Subia, President and CEO of Western Electronics. "We believe this additional service will complement our existing value-added service offering, and broadens our
capability to support existing and new customers."
