Satisfied Customers Worldwide Increased Awareness End User Converts...

At a time when many companies report declining sales figures and corporate personnel reductions, Inpro/Seal Company the world's largest producer of industrial bearing isolators reports record sales for calendar year 2007. Moreover, based on advance orders, shipments, projections and quotations, the company is on track for another record year in 2008.

Dynamics

Though a number of factors come into play, the firm attributes much of their extraordinary success to: an installed product base of well over three million installations; world class support from ongoing training at all levels; a dynamic, pro-active R&D program that operates 24/7; the largest of its kind engineering data bank with 60,000+ equipment designs; same day delivery at no extra charge; an "educate and inform" marketing philosophy; growing worldwide reputation for reliability and energy savings due to zero power consumption. All have led to dramatic increases in awareness and preference for Inpro/Seal branded bearing isolators.

The Company

Invented by the firm's founder and CEO, David C. Orlowski, a comprehensive line of bearing isolators are among the firm's only products. Following patent protection (#4,022,479) in 1977, the company has since delivered well over three million units and manufactures approximately 40,000 units per month under stringent ISO 9001 certification. The firm also holds some 40 other related patents (some of which go out until 2018 and longer).

The Product

Recognizing the need for permanent bearing protection in the process industries, Orlowski invented the bearing isolator as a means to replace sealing methods (lip, contact, face, dual face) that carry a 100% failure rate. A non-contacting type labyrinth seal, the bearing isolator never wears out and can be used over and over for many years. Protected bearings have proven to run 150,000 hours (17 years) or more, eliminating the need for costly maintenance and repair.

As a "Best Maintenance Practice", most of the Fortune 500 companies in the process industries and over half of the world's industrial companies use Inpro/Seal products in critical maintenance roles. Documented cases show that a plant can more than double the mean-time-between failure (MTBF) and reduce maintenance costs by at least half.

Product Enhancements From A Very Active R & D Program

Their R & D program, based in the worlds largest facility devoted to bearing isolation technology, continues to develop new products and enhancements to existing products that increase plant productivity with measurable bottom line results. To illustrate how active their R & D is, consider their most recent products:

-    Air Mizer-PS - an expanding line of shaft seals that provide a positive seal in applications where dry particulates, powders and bulk solids are handled, processed, packaged and stored. (Designated as 2007 Product Of The Year by a leading trade magazine.)

-    OM 32 - in oil mist applications, this is the only known method to permanently solve housekeeping issues and keep stray mist from entering the environment.

-    PMR - specially engineered for the size, speed, alignment and operating conditions of wet and dry ends of rolls to make it literally impossible to contaminate the bearings on paper machine rolls.

-    CSR - for conveyor/idler use in mining and bulk solid applications. Non-sparking design provides safe, permanent bearing protection. Recognized by the MSHA and assigned tag #AP2007-93304. (Nominated for 2007 Product Of The Year by a leading trade magazine.)

-    VBXX-MT Series Bearing Isolators - offers machine tool users protection from coolant, chips, humidity and heat, that can cause spindle malfunction and expensive, unscheduled downtime. The highest performance is assured with a reverse interface that avoids direct impingement of coolant and chips.

The Importance Of An Educated Customer

When asked about his success, Orlowski answered. "Long ago we learned that the educated consumer is our best customer. Our objective is to have the end user fully aware of the benefits obtained through the implementation of our technology." This we accomplish through: a highly successful "educate and inform" marketing approach; ongoing training, both in the field and in our headquarters; well targeted product literature; and a relationship with the trade press that leads to feature articles and case histories on a monthly basis."

The Web

Orlowski continued, "Maintained totally in-house, our website, www-inpro-seal.com is an extremely user friendly and product rich website with illustrations, charts, diagrams, installations, product photography, documentation, product literature, feature articles, FAQ's and much more.I personally author a regular column that provides up-to-date, useful information, as we want visitors to keep coming back on a regular basis."

Power Consumption

When asked about energy aspects, Orlowski replied, "When engaged with a rotating shaft, a contact seal, (lip, contact, face, dual face) consumes, on average, 147 watts of power while operating. To show how significant this is, a plant with 600 operating pumps, can run up annual costs in excess of $117,000 for energy to drive the lip seals. Bearing isolators are non-contacting, never wear out and do not consume energy. Then, once the costs associated with downtime are factored in, you can again see why more and more end users are switching to Inpro/Seal bearing isolators."

People Business

Orlowski concluded, "The cumulative efforts of our employees, including management, staff and distributors, provide the world class support, product development and enhancement that fuels our growth. A critical role in these efforts is ongoing training, as we must keep our people up-to-date who in turn keep the customer educated. We not only invest in our products, we also invest in our people."

Same Day Shipping And Beyond

To maintain their no extra cost, same day shipping option, the firm maintains a data bank with over 60,000 specially engineered designs. The largest of its kind, the data bank includes prints for every make, model, size and shape to retrofit any kind of rotating equipment made. In case they don't have a particular design, highly sophisticated computer-aided equipment, combined with their process know how allow them to develop a design within hours. Recently, both an automobile plant and a large paper mill had major breakdowns. In each instance, the cause was catastrophic bearing failure. With production at a halt, they dispatched corporate aircraft. While "in the air", Inpro/Seal was able to design, manufacture and have exact fit bearing isolators ready by the time the aircraft landed.

Investing In The Future

The Inpro/Seal facility in Rock Island, Illinois is the largest of its kind in the world devoted to the engineering, research, testing, marketing, sales and manufacture of bearing isolators. Their current facilities, expanded as part of a major investment just a few years ago, includes the latest in (CNC) lathes, metal turning machines, presses, mills, CAD/CAM, sophisticated testing equipment as well as extensive laboratory and R & d operations. With these investments, Inpro/Seal is poised to produce some 100,000 bearing isolators per month.
