The article titled, "He's a Magic Man," gives background on Ehrlich's history in the industry. He began his magician career in the 1930s and as a teenager, he entertained troops returning from World War II. After high school, he opened a deli where entertainers could stop by and perform. Later in his career, he became known in the industry and became friends with names like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
Family members say that his tricks and shows remain flawless and his sense of humor remains active. "Back at Ramsi's, Ehrlich has a table of three laughing over his wallet, which 'catches fire' as soon as he opens it," wrote Courier-Journal reporter Katya Cengel. "At another table he announces, 'I do this because I'm soliciting money for my great-grandmother, who's very sick. No pressure. The operation is tomorrow.'"
Although his magic tricks aren't the most cutting edge, many members of his audience agree that it's his presentation that attracts people to his show. "He has the brash attitude, the confidence and pure enjoyment to entertain people, whether he is doing magic or not," said an audience member. Ehrlich was also recently seen on the television show "Gene Simmons' Family Jewels" when the Kiss co-founder was in town for the Kentucky Derby. The show's producer said they were looking for local color and he was a perfect fit.
